Absolutely loved this album when it came out and played it over and over. About 18 months later I got into more heavy rock and completely stopped listening to Travis for probably the best part of a decade. Gave it a listen a couple of yrs ago and felt like an idiot for shunning it for so long, a really good album!

I always think of Travis as displaying all the worst excesses of Britpop and watering them down to the point of pure sludge, but they could honestly write a catchy tune. I'll never love them, but this brand of late-'90s, Magic FM-approved momcore still appeals on some level.

Their debut is simply better than this album. I like some of the singles on this one, but it's pretty bland in places too. Kind of an average album for me overall (though to be fair set the tone for a lot of stadium ready indie that followed: Coldplay, Snow Patrol etc.)
