My favorite Genesis album and one of my 10 favorite albums of all time! So happy to see it trending as of late. I think it's pretty flawless from start to finish, and it's easily the band's greatest accomplishment since it came out just a couple months after Peter Gabriel announced his departure from the band.

Agree with the two posts above. As a foursome, still firing on all cylinders here. Excellent, essential prog album.

Wonderful album. Far better album than anybody expected especially with the advent of Punk, this would have grated on the NME to admit they actually liked it [and so they didnt admit they liked it !!!!!. ].
This along with Wind and Wuthering are great mid period Genesis albums. Phil Collins does himself proud and becomes accepted as the lead singer in his own right by deciding not to copy Gabriel, instead creating his own style which allowed him to sing all the Gabriel era songs .
I heard most of the Trick of The Tail songs primary on the Seconds Out LP which I bought first. [Dance On A Volcano, Squonk, Robbery Assault & Battery, and Los Endos.
Possibly the remaining four were the best four.
Entangled, Mad Man Moon and Ripples are possibly three of the finest Genesis songs in their whole cannon along with Dance On A Volcano as a fourth.
The weakest is Robbery Assault & Battery, but this is mostly due the quality of the others.
The album sleeve is a beautiful designed gatefold.
I'd give the album a whole score of 98% / 100%
