I remember when this was album of the day some years ago, and I made one of my very first forum posts ever saying it was a great album.
I don't have that opinion anymore, the quality for me has declined emotionally over this time. But it is still a good listen, and Song 2 is still an otherworldly blast, one of my favorite - if not my favorite - 2 minute song ever. The other songs I love are Beetlebum, Country Sad, Theme From Retro, You're So Great, Chinese Bombs and Strange News. _________________ My Top 100 :

If it weren't for Think Tank, I suspect this would be my least-favorite Blur album. I still like it, and it's not like I got rid of my CD of it or anything like that... but overall it's not up to their usual standard. I suspect they felt that they were becoming too formulaic, and maybe too closely associated with the Britpop genre, and wanted to try doing some different stuff, use some different gadgets and instrumentation, that sort of thing... and it didn't quite work out for them. Then again, it did result in "Song 2," still probably their best-known song in the USA and hard not to like regardless of context, so that's something.
On a 1-100 scale, I'd probably put it in the mid-70s. And of course, apologies to anyone who is offended by not rating it in the high 90s.
