The cover to me implies fullfilling a record contract. The music within it as well but that doesnt mean its bad, it kind of sounds a bit liberating. While i do think it deserves better its now clearly more of a stepping stone towards the superior "The New Abnormal".
Still it gets too much hate for what is a pretty enjoyable listen my 5th favorite from the band.
"What kind of #$$hole drives a lotus?" is a really cool line BTW.

I love this album, and I come back to it quite often. To me, it's at least on par with Room on Fire, but I get that this is a very unpopular take. So be it.

Their most underrated record.
I quite agree with Holden, I love this album. And yes I also think it is close in level to Room On Fire as they are competing for their 3rd best album. I think another comparison can be made - this is a slightly lesser version of The New Abnormal in a way in which Room On Fire was a slightly lesser version of Is This It, even though each of those four albums its own sound. They were founding new ground here, and The New Abnormal would never be so good if it wasn't for this and The Voidz albums. I think Julian's falsetto on this album is extremely beautiful. Apart from the obvious hit that is One Way Trigger, my favourite tracks would be the two slower ones - the dreamy synht heavy 80's Comedown Machine and the beautiful Chances which might be their saddest song. _________________ All time
