Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.5/100, a mean average of 70.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.1.

Sooooo underrated. I didn't like it that much at first, but it's definitely a grower. Almost all the songs go from ok to amazing. Such a solid album, imo better than Angles and FIOE.

This is what I'm talking about. On this album the experimenting is in the songwriting and vocals primarily, instead of useless intermezzos and using different instruments for the sake of using different instruments. Julian Casablancas is peaking here; the rest of the band is great as usual. I'm hearing Beach Boys here and there, and a newly discovered femininity in Julian's vocals; one time he even resembled Kim Gordon very clearly on one track. Crazy shit, I love it.

Maybe it's because of my personal taste, but I've found both Angles (2011) and Comedown Machine (2013) their best work, or the ones that most resonated with me. I really like many songs from their old material ("Hard to Explain" is still their best song, IMO) but I get tired of the same garage rock over and over again. In their most recent releases, The Strokes experimented more in the grounds of alternative rock and slower rythms ("Slow Animals", "80's Comedown Machine") while still retaining their roots ("50/50") and then combining both aesthetics to create one of their best works yet! ("One Way Trigger"). I'm so excited to see what The New Abnormal (2020) will bring to the table, especially after The Voidz' fantastic Virtue (2018).

Really think it is underrated. Obviously different from other Strokes album who set the bar quite high. Nice that they tried some other sound, which I really can enjoy as much as the other previous albums

I love this album. I seriously think it's their best. All the parts flow in and out of each other perfectly, the melodies are just as catchy as anything else, with the intricacy of angles. And the recording sounds pristine. I can only understand not liking the album because of it's new sound. It doesn't sound like the Strokes. This is a new band. Don't compare it to they're early stuff. You can't.

Greatness for this band is on the tip of their tongue. They just can't reach it. Continuing to evolve their sound this is still very very good.

One Way Trigger and Japan are excellent

Everything here is solid which surprisingly is disappointing.
