I can never decide if this is Petty's best or not. Its definitely more "fun" to listen to than Wildflowers while Wildflowers is more personal. The pairing of TP and Jeff Lynne seems like a match made in heaven. The 3 huge singles off this album are generally amongst Petty's best tunes, and there's plenty of gold in the deep cuts with stuff like Yer So Bad, The Apartment Song and Face in the Crowd. He also channels one of his biggest influences in the Byrds with a cover of Feel a Whole Lot Better. Full Moon Fever and the first Traveling Wilbury's record really gave his career a rebound after he was starting to descend a bit in the mid 80s and he continued to produce high quality material well into the 90s. Getting away from the Heartbreakers probably helps this record a bit although some of the Heartbreakers are used as session musicians and guitarist Mike Campbell plays on every track.

Great Petty album. Up there alongside "Damn the Torpedoes" as the two best Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers albums.
