The B-side of the only solo single released in the lifetime of Chris Bell. Bell was a founding member of Big Star who left after the first album. His only solo album was released in 1992, 14 years after his death in 1978. And of course, neither the single or the album were a hit.
You And Your Sister features raw yet beautiful vocal harmonies by his Big Star bandmate, Alex Chilton. Bell sings high to the point of almost breaking, and the addition of Chilton make for a stunning track.
Do you think that that the some of the best harmony singing comes from groups of siblings? I'm thinking Carter family, Everly brothers, Unthanks, First Aid Kit etc. Don't know, just seems that when it's siblings a lot of the time it's on another level, a connection? Mind you Low have some of the best in rock and they aren't siblings but they are married though.
@Graeme2 Thank you for participating in my thread. Yes, it is true that sometimes sibling groups have some of the best harmonies. I've posted three of these groups in this thread so far, The Foster Triplets, Sisters, & 2 of The Ball Brothers are biological brothers and one member is their brother-in-law.
