Maybe my third favorite Beach House album, but it felt like such a game-changer at the time. Still great, to be clear, but it's cool to see Beach House evolve, albeit in moderate ways, over the last decade or so.

A lot of good records came out in 2010 that I liked, such as Blonde Redhead's Penny Sparkle and Isolation by The Brother Kite, but as far as I was concerned this was the only true standout. And "Zebra" was my favorite song that year, hands down. I'd rank Bloom a little higher, but not by much.
The main thing was that they got themselves a different producer for this album, Chris Coady, and he made a huge difference in their sound — it was like listening to two different bands, this one being about three times "dreamier" than the earlier one.
