Let’s have a go at answering some of these:
- You pick based on where the artist is from. That doesn’t necessarily mean born, nor currently resides. For example, David Byrne was born in Scotland, but the Talking Heads are a New York band. Obvs this is not an exact science, but between myself and co-runners (might be leaning on your help, LedZep) we’ll be able to tell you beforehand whether an artist is eligible. Common sense encouraged.
- Wider metropolitan area seems fine, particularly with smaller cities. Again, common sense. Happy to field specific examples.
- No strict population/area limit.
- Can choose from the entire history of recorded music.

Current thoughts: gonna cap at 16 participants and go with a group format. Open to suggestions.
Please be aware that, if you nominate, you will be expected to actively participate - rather than just nominating and disappearing (although we can also work around this if that’s what you wanna do!).

Can there be artist overlap between the singles and albums, or do we need 20 unique artists?

I’d vouch no overlap, but Skinny’s call.
And re:Jimmy, I was likewise. First city that came to mind was Kingston. I mean… unless I’m missing something, almost every single piece of music from Jamaica came out of there. (Reykjavik also came to mind for the very cold version of that situation).

I'd probably draw the line at someone like Eminem.
Although he spent a good part of his youth in St Joseph (Which is about an hour north) and some in Kansas City, we all know him as someone who got famous in Detroit.
