About album of the day: The BestEverAlbums.com album of the day is the album appearing most prominently in member charts in the previous 24 hours. If an album, or artist, has previously been selected within a x day period, the next highest album is picked instead (and so on) to ensure a bit of variety. A full history of album of the day can be viewed here.
This album begins with perhaps the best consecutive 15 minutes of material in the band’s entire catalog. The first three songs on Houses of the Holy are masterpieces that show the different capabilities Zeppelin always had as advantages on other artists coming to full bloom (Page’s production, JPJ orchestration..).
D’yer Maker isn’t a bad song but it’s definitely not a favorite so the combination of it and The Crunge clogging up the middle of this album has always been the thing that held it back from being my very favorite Zeppelin record. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.
