songs

My '80s chart is full of underrated gems, but I'll pick a few with corresponding songs:
Gregory Isaacs - If I Don't Have You (from More Gregory, 1981)
Orange Juice - Consolation Prize (from You Can't Hide Your Love Forever, 1982)
Harald Grosskopf - Synthesist (from Synthesist, 1980)
Dexy's Midnight Runners - Tell Me When My Light Turns Green (from Searching for the Young Soul Rebels, 1980)
Mr. Fingers - Slam Dance (from Ammnesia, 1989)
Scientist - Dance of the Vampires (from Scientist Rids The World Of The Evil Curse Of The Vampires by Scientist, 1981)
Daniel Johnston - Speeding Motorcycle (from Yip/Jump Music, 1983)
The The - This Is The Day (from Soul Mining, 1983)
Vic Godard & Subway Sect - Stop That Girl (non-album single, from expanded edition of What's The Matter Boy, 1980)
Slick Rick - Hey Young World (from The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, 1988)
Luther Vandross - I Found Me A Girl (from Never Too Much, 1981)
Half Japanese - 1,000,000 Kisses (from Charmed Life, 1988)
Will return to this thread later to add more, and to add YouTube links.

I honestly think puttin on the ritz is one of the best 80's songs out there. Such a good song that not many seem to remember.

I second The Cult. Great band. Especially check out their album Love, if you don't particularly like the shred guitar stuff.
Overkill is a really underrated band within the thrash metal genre, one of my favorite bands. _________________

My brother was into The Cult back in the late 80s. I couldn't get into it then. Not sure I can now either, but might give it another try _________________ http://jonnyleather.com
