- Post subject: Top Three Bands You've Seen Live
|
I'll leave this here until somebody decides to move it to games. It's just pretty clogged over there right now, and with a little spitshine I think I can wedge it into Music. Also, sorry if I've mislead you into thinking we were talking about your favorite three bands live. The actual topic is...
Using BEA's Top Ranked Bands List, who are the top three Bands/Artists you have seen live?
(And what was your favorite song?)
1. Radiohead (Reckoner)
2. Arcade Fire (Wake Up)
3. Pixies (Here Comes Your Man)

Can this include bands who you've seen on concerts on TV or do have to have been to the concert?

I'm assuming it's concerts you were actually at.
1. Radiohead (Airbag)
1 1/2. Jimmy Page/Robert Plant (Bring It On Home)
2. Pearl Jam (Rival)
3. Muse (Stockholm Syndrome)

I've been to very little concerts in my life. The highest ranked band that I have seen live is Green Day, who I saw when I was 10. I think that was the last concert I've been to.

Not sure if you mean, which highest rank bands you have seen live (used the first time)... In which case
1. Nirvana (About A Girl)
2. U2 (Party Girl)
3. The Clash (Rock The Casbah)
Or if you mean which were your favourite concerts in order of how BEA ranks... In which case
1. Nirvana (Lithium)
2. Pixies (Debaser)
3. The Smiths (This Charming Man)
Honourable mention goes to Neil Young (who sits just below The Smiths In the rankings) whose concert with Pearl Jam at the Waldbuehne is one of my all time favourites ( and he kicks ass live)

Radiohead (Street Spirit)
Nirvana (On a Plain)
The Rolling Stones (Tumbling Dice)
Nirvana I only saw once but it was an amazing show, Radiohead and the Stones I've gotten to see many times!

In the order they appear in the BEA rankings (solo members where applicable):
1. Paul McCartney The Beatles (Back In The USSR)
2. Radiohead (2+2=5)
3. Robert Planet Led Zeppelin (Going To California)
4. Bob Dylan (I've seen him like 21/22 times, I can't pick one song)
5. The Rolling Stones (Brown Sugar)
6. U2 (they were shit)
7. The Who (seen them a few times, Baba O'Riley)
8. Brian Wilson The Beach Boys (the man did the whole of Smile, probably go for Good Vibrations though)
9. Bruce Springsteen (seen him a few times, Racing In The Streets)
10. Morrissey The Smiths (Panic)
11. Neil Young (The Needle and the Damage Done, although special mention to A Day In The Life, for which McCartney joined him)
12. R.E.M. (seen them a few times, Swan Swan Hummingbird)
13. Oasis (yes, I know)
14. New Order Joy Division (they did a Joy Division set on John Peel Day a few years back, so this is where Joy Division would be, She's Lost Control)
15. The Strokes (Take It or Leave It)
16. Red Hot Chili Peppers (I dunno, they where whack, Frusciante did a solo song so that I guess)
17. Ian Brown Stone Roses (Waterfall)
18. Van Morrison (Jackie Wilson Said)
19. The Flaming Lips (seen them a bunch of times, Race For The Prize is always good)
20. David Byrne Talking Heads (And She Was)
21. The Cure (Just Like Heaven)
22. Arctic Monkeys (From The Ritz to Rubble)
23. Tom Waits (one of the best gigs I've been to, Innocent When You Dream)
24. Prince (the best gig I've ever been to, I Wanna Be Your Lover)
25. Ray Davies The Kinks (Waterloo Sunset)
26. Stevie Wonder (Master Blaster > How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You > Master Blaster)
27. Bjork (Hyperballad)
28. Elvis Costello (I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down)
29. Love (they did all of Forever Changes, You Set The Scene was particularly glorious)
30. Beastie Boys (Three MC's and One DJ)
31. Massive Attack (Safe From Harm)
32. Belle & Sebastian (Lord Anthony)
33. PJ Harvey (Let England Shake)
34. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (Red Right Hand)
35. Kings of Leon (Joe's Head)
36. Nas (Made You Look)
37. Bloc Party (Helicoptor)
38. Wu-Tang Clan (Ice Cream)
39. The Libertines (Can't Stand Me Now)
40. DJ Shadow (I dunno, I was wasted, it was a drum'n'bass thing from inside a sphere, all a bit crazy)
41. Patti Smith (saw her performing Horses in its' entirety, Redondo Beach)
42. Ryan Adams (Strawberry Wine)
OK, that's every artist from our Top 200 I have seen live.
