NickVolos wrote: | The etymology of nostalgic is the Greek word nostalgia, a composite word of nostos, meaning returning back (to your country) and algia meaning pain (algos), i.e. the pain your feel reminiscing the past. So for an album to be nostalgic I have to either accidently run into it to it or purposely want to listen to it in order to feel nostalgic. I tend not to want to think of the past - it is gone forever, so until I run into it by accident, I don't know. |
Thanks for your explanation.Didn't know that. But there is a song/album that makes you feel strange and takes you back to a special time, isn't it? (i think this sentence was grammatically wrong!)

The Process by Skinny Puppy
alot of people, especially skinny puppy fans, don't like this album. i was totally new to SP when I had this album, so i had no preconceived notions. i still think it's good, particularly the end of the album. an original sound. _________________ I AM A CRACKED MACHINE

In that case what Mancsoulsister said reflects me perfectly.

I don't know how to do cool album art like y'all. But for me, I'm too young to give a lot. For Emma Forever Ago is very nostalgic for me, and Foiled by Blue October feels somewhat nostalgic, though I haven't gone past Hate Me in my own life just yet. _________________

Rush Blood To The Head - Coldplay
I really don't know what is it with this album. I was 11, and my my parentsgave it to me as a Christmas present. Before that I was more of a backstreet boys fan. So basically this album and The Beatles 1 album introduced me to music in some way.
As time went by sad memories related to break ups in general are related to this album.
I was listening to it before they broke up with me. And another time, it was the first album I played after I broke up with someone.
There is something about this album that brings up special memories. A Warning Sign, Green Eyes, Ámsterdam, The Scientist. I dont know, it is special.
But you know, every trascendental album in anyones life must be related to some special moment or moments in people's life. At the end that is the purpose of music, be in our lives.
"We are the sum of all the moments in our lives, all that is our is in them" _________________ "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming"

Took me a while to figure that out too. I wondered why so many people were willing to spend the time to add images and links for every album they were listening to.
