Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.6/100, a mean average of 77.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.2.

Disco de culto dentro del country-rock y una de las mayores muestras de la genialidad de Gram Parsons y del injustamente olvidado Chris Hillman.

Gram Parsons is a ubiquitous presence in my charts, at least for the short period in which he was a major influence on both country music and rock music. I feel he's the singular figure most responsible for bringing together the traditional elements of country with the rebellious, creative outlet that rock and roll provided. Parsons himself called his style "cosmic American music," and ultimately that feels about right. The Gilded Palace of Sin was the best thing Parsons did as part of the Flying Burrito Brothers, with the frequently covered "Sin City" the highlight. I'm still waiting to see a person wearing a green mohair suit to gain a full appreciation for the sort of person who'd dress that way.

Briliant album. Along with "Sweetheart of the Rodeio", it's one of country rock foundations

Thought I might get into this, but I wore out on the country rock flavor by the end.

A landmark album in the history of country rock. Even though it doesn't quite have the emotional edge that Gram Parsons' solo records have, it's still a very good album. Much stronger and consistent than it's follow up it has some great songs in, sin city, hippie boy, and the achingly beautiful, I'm your toy, whatever # burrito it is. Great sounds.

In my opinion, the greatest Country-rock album ever. Hands down!
