I've been checking out the origins of techno recently in an attempt to get more into the genre, and part of that has been listening to the three originators of the original Detroit sound. Of the limited listening I've done, I think I prefer May's work over the others'. The title of this compilation - Innovator - fits well because these tracks integrate techno with a few other sounds and create something that feels less mechanical and more full of life. Of course it's still a bit cold and mechanical - it's techno after all - but tracks like "Strings of Life" are lively and danceable.
