Not the best of his Rick Rubin produced resurgence era but hey man, it's Johnny Cash. A man who can make any song his own with his brilliance of vocal narration. Love that Glenn Danzig wrote the song 'Thirteen' for him for this. Fantastic.
This album changed my life and changed who I was as a musician.

Consistently good, but nothing that goes above and beyond like in III and IV.
It's hard to remember what a shock this was, to hear the man in black return in such a stripped down, basic collection, with that beautiful voice still there, but now betraying its age and vulnerability. Just compare this Delia's Gone to the classic version.
Not as good as some of the later albums but a good start to the Rick Rubin era

Performance is good, but the songs aren't terribly strong.
No frills, old-style country, featuring the man and his guitar. Highly recommended for those who like to go back in history.

This started another re-birth of Johnny Cash. Solid, but a little overrated.
