Atlantic had a real challenge on their hands trimming this collection to a single disc, Limiting the number of great songs contained here to a dozen was far too restrictive given the amazing selection Aretha had given them to work with over the years. Someone's favorites are sure to left out, leaving a number of listeners disappointed. What they have accumulated in this budget set is admirable - but only sufficient to wet the whistle of a true Aretha Franklin fan.
