Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.3/100, a mean average of 72.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 9.6.

Pivotal eighties album. If you are a keyboard player you will recognise what Howard was doing with the fairly rudimentary syncing of his kit, albeit he was fortunate to have some great synths in his arsenal, most notably the Jupier 8. He was and still is a clever musician. Pearl in the shell is a superb track, the synth textures are devine! I often see comments on this site about 'filler'. Filler is something I buy from the local DIY store to fill cracks and has become a modern term to allow people to express their dissatisfaction for tracks on album which they don't like. The term in my view is utter tripe. Either you like an album or you don't'...
A couple great songs and a lot of standard issue for the day filler. Worth having . . . barely.
Nostalgia, 80's synth is my music, I had a clock radio that I listened to Radio Luxembourg on late into the night, fading in and out, and What Is Love was regularly played....in a way I wish that was it, this hasn't aged as well as I'd hoped, although Pearl In The Shell, What Is Love (prefer the single version) and New Song are still top tracks.
3 really strong new wave tracks new song, what is love and pearl in the shell. Howard Jones is a must in any new wave collection
Best Tracks: What is Love, New Song
Best Song: New Song.
Decent debut, well known What is Love and bunch of average tracks.
