Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 13% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.6/100, a mean average of 73.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.3.

Uboa pass the Lingua Ignota's exam of "how to transform death-industrial in spiritual music". The Origin of My Depression is a deep record but is nothing compared to Kristin Hayter's works of art.

If you thought Daughters album 'You Wont Get What You Want' from 2018 was dark and menacing wait until you get a load of this album by Australian industrial noise artist UBOA AKA Xandra Metcalfe

The visceral suffering contained in the lyrics and screaming vocals backed by the frightening music makes for an incredible musical experience that draws you as the listener into her nightmare over and over again like a bad dream that never ends

This album is dark , angry , intense and quite simply one of the best albums in 2019

"Love is not the origin of my depression
Gender dysphoria is not the origin of my depression
Poverty is not the origin of my depression
I try to grasp it
And every answer fails
You are not the origin of my depression
People ignoring me is not the origin of my depression
Awkward social interactions are not the origin of my depression
You are not the origin"

There were times where I nearly stopped it. A very self-reflective record

Perhaps the rightful heir apparent to the Swans brutal but meticilous symphony of violence, but if they went in a more introspective direction and were much, much angrier. A more vulnerable and musically diverse release from Uboa's previous industrial onslaughts, she expands her sound here in always effective ways to reveal the much more complicated sides of mental illness that haven't been explored quite this furiously or sincerely hitherto. It's not an easy listen, but a multi-faceted, extraordinary work regardless.
