Oct19. 1st listen. Blistering start with the title track. Many of these tracks straddle the line between cool hard rock and metal. Quite often they are also clearly one or the other too. Really hard to peg.
When 'metalling it up', break downs are aplenty, along with some heavy bass. I like how the vocals vary so much: husky, shouting, screaming and death growls (thankfully infrequently for the last). Metalcore fans will find something here, but so will Clutch fans or even fans of bands like Monster Truck.
The first half of the album flew by and I could not pick any favourites, but it was consistently very good. The second half did not hit as hard. Final track, 'Boogiewoman', I was expecting to be a blues-metal track but turned out to be more of a Rob Zombie style dirge. 3.5/5
