Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 66.1/100, a mean average of 63.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 63.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.0.

Some tracks are interesting. "Say so" became such a big commercial hit.

After Tia Tamera I was liking which direction she was heading. Extremely tongue-in-cheek, what made her famous let's be honest, and above all not taking herself or anything seriously at all. Amala was a bit too timid and serious after Moo!. Then Juicy came and it was becoming clear that's she really just unapolegetically is gonna grab at the money. And first I was like "okay bitch, get that bread", but something didn't feel right. It's not the same anymore. The "not taking yourself seriously"-part seems to deteriorate when you put so much effort in the lyrics of your song so that it's gonna get picked up by the mainstream. Tia Tamera and Moo! were basically just nonsensical songs; shit talking and dumb jokes. It still had this edge. Juicy was a sharp turn to pop, which isn't a bad thing in itself, but it's not what makes her great and what she does best. And ironically on this album the song I like the most is the one that reminds me the most of Amala: "Say So". It flows right and doesn't try to be a hit. And it makes me think, Amala was just Doja being honest and herself after all. The chill, simplistic pop songs is another thing she is really good at and it's basically how she started her music. And afterwards I think I would rather have another Amala with songs I can consistently vibe to than this forced, over the top tongue-in-cheek mess. I mean sure, she still has that chill vibe going on in her music, but she doesn't go 100% for it anymore. The lyrics seem to dominate on this album, not the music. A lot of songs really sound like the the lyrics were written first and then a melody was made up. And the production also just uninteresting. She can do much better.
