Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes became the vehicle for legendary soul singer Teddy Pendergrass to bring forth his gruff, assertive, and seductive vocal style to popular music charts in the 70s. With a string of hits his thunderous singing brought women to their knees, and Epic/Legacy captured the "softer side" of the Blue Notes on this compilation released in 1998 as "Blue Notes & Ballads" (Cat#: ZK 65365) as part of Legacy's Rhythm & Soul Series. The 14 tracks featured here cover a variety of styles - but the hallmark of any Blue Note record will always be Pendergrass's growl. Authenticated on discogs.com
