Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 66.2/100, a mean average of 63.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 63.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.9.

Conceptually speaking, each track on this orchestral-ambient album is supposed to be a "map," leading you on "a roadtrip through the subconscious mind." This explains the album's title, "Atlas" — a collection of maps. These maps are especially useful too, because as it happens, GPS satellite location services aren't available in the subconscious mind. There's a reason for that though, in that it's usually a bad idea to drive your car through the subconscious mind, not to mention the conscious mind, due to the risk of severe brain damage. (Sometimes you can reduce the amount of damage by driving a really small car, such as a Mazda Miata.) As for the music itself, it's all instrumental, only the first couple of tracks (and maybe the last one) are atonal, and the rest range from spacey to eerie to quite pretty-sounding (such as track 9, the one-minute treated-piano miniature "You Burn Me"). But hey, let's face it, they're mostly spacey. This may be one of the most interesting ambient albums you'll probably ever hear, though admittedly, most people don't listen to ambient albums in the hope that they'll be really interested in them.

First half is exceedingly dull ambient tones that sounds like a soundtrack to an art installation. This adds nothing new, there are so many other albums just like this. The second half is slightly more interesting with the title track the best.
