This relaxed, hazy, almost dream-like vibe draws you in almost without any resistance, but there's also some eccentricity and unpredictability to keep you guessing. When it comes to rapping, this has to be viewed as an improvement, though Kendrick does steal the show in a way that didn't happen in any track in Control System. The lyrics weren't that spectacular here either ("Niggas already know Q? (Yeah) Niggas already know you? (Nah) I said I'm Quincy, bitch, I'm hella groovy, bitch Niggas already know, I'm with this shit You on that hater shit, I'm on the playa shit I left y'all minors in the majors bitch"). The length issue is relevant here is as well, but far less striking.

There are some good raps and good beats on here, with some interesting samples including portishead and genesis ("firth of fifth"). Ultimately, schoolboy needs more focus and hooks, especially in the back half of the album. As a result of the eclectic samples and lack of focus, this album often feels slipshod and loooong in the gold tooth.
