It's said that traditional jazz is musicians trying to outdo each other, whereas contemporary jazz is musicians ignoring each other. I'm not sure I would go that far, on the strength of this album, but there is certainly something of the discord about Emma Rawicz's second album. That said, it's a strong entry into the jazz canon and one which is definitely worth your time if you're into jazz. If you're not, it's unlikely to convert you.
