Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.8/100, a mean average of 75.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.9.

Talk about ups and downs, because this album has them. I agree with the first comment above, that there's a great drum and bass interlude on the first track but all the bits surrounding that are a bit rubbish. To their point, there are clearly songs 100% influenced by the Beastie Boys. The Beastie Boys were the first to do what they did, but that doesn't mean it should be done. There are some true gems surrounded by noise though (PACKAPUNCH, WHERE U FROM, NO HANDS, WHAT U NEED, and OMNITRIX).
Lastly, can we stop naming tracks in all caps... when did this start and when will it end... hopefully soon...
"NO HANDS" feels like if the Beastie Boys started in 1999. The production is a mixture of classic boombap and Y2k. The infectious electronic undertones steal every moment they're in. "BUSSIT", in particular, has a fantastic drum and bass interlude. The biggest charm of the album is the unrepentant goofiness. Each silly line is delivered with full earnestness and confidence. It makes even the weaker bars sound fun. As fun as the album is, it isn't able to transition from good to great. It feels like it could use more ambitious beats or bars to really build off its momentum. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it certainly spins it.
