The first album from the Crawley band in 16 years is well worth the wait, the atmospheres generated are very reminiscent of Disintegration and Robert Smith's vocal performance is strong.

When listening to this album... wow... I can do nothing more than place it in the best album of 2024 and the second of the 20s... what an atmosphere...a masterpiece... (Edited)

Sorry, I'm just not feelin it. This sounds like a collection of forgettable leftovers that weren't good enough to make Disintegration. And it's kinda off-putting to hear a guy who is literally a senior citizen now still singing as if he were a mopey overwrought teenager. That vocal approach is fine if you're actually in your "youthful alienation" phase. But when you're grandpa age, it comes across as immature and emotionally stunted. If you're looking for an old man artist who can still sound relevant in 2024 (while acting his own age), Nick Cave's "Wild God" is a far superior album IMO. (Edited)

Have recently been fully getting into 'Disintegration' (long overdue, I know) and then this came along... felt like serendipity! Really great to hear them still making music at such a high level thirty five years later :) (Edited)

A triumphant return for arguably the best band of their era. Yet, spending 16 years waiting for the right songs to come to them has been good for The Cure. Here, they are as refined and full of purpose as ever. Songs of a Lost World hearkens back to The Cure in their prime without being a carbon copy. Their familiar melancholy bolstered by robust production makes one wonder what this would have sounded like produced 35 or 40 years ago, but then it wouldn't have as much power. This is a singular entry in The Cure's catalog. Their best sine Wish and the only record of theirs since Disintegration without a single skip. Where most late period works remind us that artists are past their prime and often tarnish a strong legacy, Songs of a Lost World finds The Cure staking their claim. No one could do it and no one will do it better. (Edited)
