A polarising record. On the one hand, Owens is still one of the best club music producers making pop. On the other hand, this particular cheesy brand of prog trancey melodic house is not my thing at all. Despite that, her incredible sound design and production chops (as well as pure songwriting ability) make this more than listenable. At its best, it's Underworld. At its worst, it's Tomorrowland. Her usually immaculate vocal performances are at times degraded to extremely cheesy, grating festival EDM "ethereal" shit (if you've heard this particular vocal style you'll know what I'm talking about). However, it's still better than 99.9% of the music in this style. It's both a pretty good album and a very disappointing next step for one of the most exciting electronic pop artists right now. The album still grows on me with every listen, so that's great.
