Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.3/100, a mean average of 72.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 10.4.

This is great! Definitely the best Hatchie album so far. I almost feel like I'm back in 1992... Let me clarify that, actually. The Sundays first appeared in 1989 but made their best album, "Blind," in 1992 before making their last in 1997. Other reviewers with limited knowledge of this musical era may claim that this Hatchie album is influenced by the Cocteau Twins and their singer, Elizabeth Fraser, when in fact it sounds nothing like them at all. Hatchie's voice (at least on some of the quieter passages) probably sounds a bit like Tallies' Sarah Cogan, Sweet Trip's Valerie Cooper, Alvvays' Molly Rankin, The Fauns' Alison Garner, or any number of other "waifpop" and twee/tweegaze, shoegaze-pop, and dreampop female singers. But if you ask me, the comparison with The Sundays' Harriet Wheeler, and The Sundays in general, is so obvious and familiar that it makes little sense to make comparisons to anybody else. And it's a good thing too, because The Sundays were fantastic, and everyone who heard them wished they had made more records. So then, here it is, folks!
