This third album from Nicholas Holton & Co. is probably the best of the three HOO ("Holton's Opulent Oog") albums so far, even though it has less involvement by Slowdive members than the first two. Ian McCutcheon is still the drummer, and Simon Rowe (from Mojave 3) appears on two tracks, "Hearts And Minds" and "I'm Not Here To Worry You," but that's pretty much the extent of it. Holton seems to have almost given up on the idea of HOO as an experimental/avant-garde project at this point, and the results are mostly positive — a reduction in cheesy synth sounds, more effort put in on the vocals, and even a few songs that could probably be singles if people still cared about singles. It might have been nice if we'd gotten another Neil Halstead composition like "We Shall Never Speak" (the title track from the second HOO LP), but these guys are doing their best, and there's really no need for fans to be so greedy and demanding all the time, is there.

A lot of hard work happens in the background to keep BEA running, and it's especially difficult to do this when we can't pay our hosting fees :(
