More Pepper is a solid example of late 20th-century big-band jazz, where Pepper Adams's skill is combined with the discipline of Denny Christianson's orchestra. The album does not reinvent the genre, but it showcases its classic qualities:
well-coordinated horn sections;
expressive solos;
a balance between swing and lyricism.
Rating: 7.5/10 - an album for traditional jazz enthusiasts who will not be surprised by experiments, but will appreciate the quality of performance.
