First listen through, I have to say this is pretty exciting. He evokes comparisons to Dylan and Elvis as premature as those always are. Jake Bugg sounds like a true believer with the musical chops to deliver on a vision.
This kid is gonna be big. No doubt. Way better than Mumford & Sons. Don't even compare them, it's not worth it. It's more like Dylan with a modern twist. The age is right. I think we may have found our new Bob Dylan guys!
This is one of those rare albums that I loved the first time I heard it and love more and more each time with each subsequent listen.
I love the stripped back simple quality of each of the songs and how they all fit into a lusciously complete whole. It reminds me so much of my beloved 'The La's' but with a slightly zestier twist.
It's not groundbreaking, his influences are rather obvious, but he's got some fine melodies nonetheless. (Edited)
people rate the album much lower than the songs. they must hate his something. same with madonna (well...) lana del rey, mumford & sons, the maccabees, cloud nothings, swans, japandroids, muse & the shins (i'm talking 2012, right).
