CONTEXT: In the middle of the early '90s grunge era, Sweet created 2 of the best pop rock albums of the decade. The production is a bit too squeaky-clean, but the songs are undeniable: they hook you in, and then keep getting better with repeated listens.
MUSIC: A surprisingly diverse collection of blues riffs, jangle-pop, psychedelica, and even country sounds. The vocal harmonies are a throwback to the 1960s, but the music never sounds dated or derivative.
LYRICS: Beneath the soothing facade are lyrics that express betrayal, heartbreak, and desperation. It's done so subtly that it sometimes gets overlooked.
HIGHLIGHTS: I've Been Waiting, Girlfriend, Winona. (Edited)

I would add Nothing Lasts to the highlights and call it perhaps the best song on the album.

The first 10 songs on this album are a fantastic album on their own. The last 5 drag it down a bit, though. The guitar playing from Richard Lloyd and Robert Quine is tremendous, and there are so many great melodies throughout.
