I am quickly becoming more and more convinced that this is one of the greatest experimental rock albums ever recorded.

Talk Talk can do no evil, apparently. The two Talk Talk members I assumed to be simply "along for the ride" with the songwriting team of Hollis/Friese-Greene turn out to be excellent avant-garde musicians in their own right. This goes even further than Laughing Stock, and in a much more interesting way than Mark Hollis was able to on his self-titled album. That is partly because while it does go further than Laughing Stock, it also spreads in new directions, incorporating more dub and tribal influences. I hear a good bit of krautrock in these songs as well. Great stuff! It's rare that I enjoy an album this much on first listen
