Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.7/100, a mean average of 74.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.4.

Even though some of the music is interesting, I can't seriously recommend this.

A quite lovely album. Basket of light, is one of the great folk records of all time. Excellent performances all round, especially Jacqui Mcshee, who is superb throughout. Great songs in, light flight, Sally go round the roses, and, the cuckoo. Great LP.

The opening track Light Flight was the theme tune of a popular British TV series, Take Three Girls and so is still one of the best known of their songs. The traditional folk song Once I Had A Sweetheart is another standout track.

A wonderful album but perhaps a little dated now. Pentangle were very much a band of their time. I remember seeing them perform most of the songs from it live at Brighton Dome. I visited Bert Jansch's grave at Highgate Cemetery recently.

I remember to this day the first I listened to this album and immediately fell in love. A perfect folk album, and my #1 of all times.
