Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 62.8/100, a mean average of 60.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 60.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.8.

If i should rank all the regular Black Sabbath albums ( 21 or so ?!? ) ''Cross Purposes'' would land in the lower third of that table . Sad to say but it's a mediocre release , despite some glimpses of good vocal - work and one or two great solos.

Not good. They should have never carried on as Black Sabbath without Ozzy.

Not a bad metal album, if it is not compared with the first 10 Sabbath albums. Certainly should be a lot higher than 587th in 1994. Great guitar work from Iommi in for example, Immaculate Deception. If this didn't have the Black Sabbath name attached, would it be ranked higher? I think so, a lot higher.
Underrated. By far the best Sabbath album out of the Tony Martin era.

Easily the most underrated album in the Sabbath catalog! This is Tony Martin at his best, delivering the strongest songs during his tenure as the Sabbath frontman. Iommi's riffs are fine and the sound mix is excellent. Classic cuts include 'Cross of Thorns,' 'Back to Eden,' and 'The Hand that Rocks the Cradle.'

Favoritas: I Witness, Virtual Death, Evil Eye

Un estilo algo alejado a Black Sabbath a mi parecer, es más bien una fusión de estilos que en cierta forma me recuerdan a Iron Maiden y Metallica
