I went on a sort-of date with a woman to see Hoots and Hellmouth play at a small club in Asheville in support of this album. Mistake. Rather than get up and dance, which is what I'd have done if I'd gone alone, we wound up sitting at a table and drinking. She got drunk, and spent most of the evening either making up stories about the other people in attendance or surreptitiously slipping ice cubes down my shirt. I'd have had a much better time swaying out there among the crowd to great songs such as "City Lights on a Country Ceiling," a song perfectly suited for a place like Asheville with its odd blend of urban, rural, redneck, and Bohemian influences.
