If anything, this album appeals to the guitarist in me. Jarekus Singleton can flat-out play, man. He’s got some serious chops. This album is entirely blues, just straight blues rock, it’s nothing particularly new (it’s hard for something like the blues to really be “new”) but it’s executed really well. Singleton can sing it, he can write it and man can he play it, he’s got the blues down. This is an album that grooves really well and has some soul to it. It’s modern blues, it’s not all about taking the train down to New Orleans, it’s about social media, the Internet, things like that, and that’s what the blues is meant to be about, the soul of the person writing it. Singleton does well here, there are a couple songs that are somewhat generic, but generally, it’s an impressive album, check it out.

Genuinely pleased to see After the Disco getting some love on your chart, as I thought it was the best album of 2014. I've really come to appreciate what a great producer Danger Mouse is, as he's able to adapt his approach in a chameleon-like way to draw out the talents of the artists he works with. Overall a really enjoyable chart to puruse and sample from!
