Krieg take black metal and move it into a different direction, all on the power of vocalist Neill Jameson. This album is tight, it’s like being trapped in a small room with no furniture and you’re running around mad. It expands as the album goes on, the second half providing the real greatness of the album, including a track featuring spoken word from Integrity’s Dwid Hellion and Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore that really tells you what this album is about, and that’s loneliness, Moore and Hellion lament as much. This album is about isolation, separation from the rest of the world, seeing the world moving around you and not feeling a part of it but rather being the lonely person in a crowded room. They evoke those feelings with ease making for an interesting and powerful album. [First added to this chart: 09/25/2014]

Genuinely pleased to see After the Disco getting some love on your chart, as I thought it was the best album of 2014. I've really come to appreciate what a great producer Danger Mouse is, as he's able to adapt his approach in a chameleon-like way to draw out the talents of the artists he works with. Overall a really enjoyable chart to puruse and sample from!

And I thought that except for the War on Drugs 2014 was a mediocre year. When I read your comments it wants me to check at least some of the albums you're very positieve of.
