Just what I've heard so far and like. Because of where I'm from it's heavy on UK and especially North East. Songs about coal and sea, woods and soil. And dead lovers. Oh, and milk white steeds. Will have to make this one per artist to represent more.
Some very good compilations I have that started me listening to this stuff are Bob Stanley's Gather in the Mushrooms/Early Morning Hush, Andy Votel's Folk Is Not A Four Letter Word 1 & 2, Mark Pritchard's Feel The Spirit. Though as the chart shows, I am getting into more trad sounds.
A couple of books that would fit nice on your shelf of folk vinyl would be "new penguin book of English folk songs" and Bob Copper's "A song for every season".
