Probably the finest lyricist in rock/pop music history. I'm not sure anyone will ever surpass him. There are other greats such as Van Morrison, Springsteen, Jagger/Richards and a few others, but Dylan set the bar too high. A true original.

Truly one of the absolute greats. If this were ancient Greece Bob would be up on Mt. Olympus along with Jimi Hendrix (oh what might have been) &, Neil Young, my three great North American Icons.

Personally, I find it rather difficult to enjoy an entire record from this guy. I prefer my Dylan in small doses, two or three songs at a time, otherwise I get kind of bored. But that's just a matter of personal preference. He's one of the greats, I don't think anyone can deny that.

I don't think any artist has reached or will ever reach the productivity of Dylan in 60s and 70s, such great albums with so many great songs, one can't evet count.

I use to not like his vocals much at all but now I think they add to the greatness of his songs.

Bob Dylan is a true musical genius. The work he did in the 60's is legendary. My favorite Dylan time period though is in the 70s starting with Blood On The Tracks, Desire, Street-Legal & Slow Train Coming. I believe he was at his peak here with his mature songwriting. Other albums I highly recommend are Infidels from 1983, Oh Mercy 1989, Time out of Mind 1997 and Tempest 2012.

No one, not even the Beatles, has this much artistic excellence in quantity. Several dozen albums spanning about the same amount of years has boatloads of great tracks and stellar albums, and he waxes the best poetic of any artist in history over that time, but eventually you gotta wonder just how bloated all of that music becomes even with the high quality immersed within. Quality is better than quantity when it comes to sifting through music, but it's not as though Dylan is particularly bad during his lows—he's just not the best lyricist of all time in those moments.

Key Albums: Blood on the Tracks, Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde
Key Cuts: Desolation Row, Like a Rolling Stone, Tangled Up in Blue
