When you discover Nick Drake's music for the first time, you might not be expecting what he had to offer during his three albums, but once you had a taste of his fragile, sensitive yet extremely potent - and occasionally fun - melodies and lyrics, you find yourself going back every time. Every day. Just wanting more. But, you find out that you don't want to push him too much, because he is so precious in the hands of the listener that you will simply never forget his music. Pink Moon has some of the best and influential pieces of music ever recorded, and Five Leaves Left and Bryter Layter are not too far off. My favourite singer/songwriter and it will be like that for a very, very long time. Nick Drake changed my life.
One of several artists whose tragically underrated status at the time they released their music has led to an overrated status among music buffs today, in order to compensate now that more people have retrospectively discovered him. Having said that, I'm happy for him to be overrated, because his understated but powerful songwriting carries a poignancy few artists have ever been able to replicate. Pink Moon is his best album, but he has many other good songs. His ability to capture understated emotion ranging from melancholy to magical is second only to Cat Stevens, whose album Mona Bone Jakon is the perfect example of such ability.
love him, love all the songs on Five Leaves Left, that's my favourite album by him.

I like all of his 3 albums, but I just find myself listening to Pink Moon, rarely the other two
