Listening to this for the first time was such an emotional experience for me. I felt as if i was taken to a different dimension altogether, like I had left earth. It felt like being deconstructed then built back up again. Later, as I would search for the inspiration behind this piece (aka, wikipedia), I would find that the band created it after a particularly harsh mental burnout. New and old sounds are delicately mixed together to create its experimental sound. That and Radiohead's old rock sound is mixed with electronic music with a lot of controlled chaos in the album. Although these tracks work best with each other, my personal favourites are "The National Anthem","How to Disappear Completely", "Treefingers", and "Idioteque"

This album took a few listens to get into. Honestly, I thought it was weird. But after the second or third listen,It just clicked; now I listen to it almost weekly. Its a beautiful exploration into new sounds and song structures. Not completely polished, the raw sound really fits with the various emotions of the tracks. Inspiration from Damon Albarn's breakup is present in tracks throughout the album, most notably "Tender" and "No Distance Left to Run". Favourite tracks include "Tender", "Coffee & TV", "1992", "Caramel", "Trimm Trabb", and "No Distance Left to Run."

For those of you who don't know, The Black Parade is a rock opera following the story of an average man known as The Patient as he dies, reflects on his life, and experiences death. Death comes for him in his most vivid memory, when his father took him "to see a marching band" in Welcome to the Black Parade. Although MCR is known as having a post-hardcore, punk, or emo sound, this album is characterized by a progressive rock sound. What sets it apart from other albums is although it has deep and unique, introspective themes and ideas, it has much humour to it as well. Although MCR moved away from their emo sound, they matured their sound, keeping their intensity from Bullets and melodic form from Three Cheers. This album really is overlooked. While I prefer this album as a whole, my favourite track would have to be Famous Last Words.
