At last - The Beatles' final album as it was meant to be heard before Phil Spector got his sticky fingers on it! Paul McCartney dusted it off, got rid of the dross and restored 'Don't Let Me Down', one of his writing partners' best songs, to its rightful place - God knows why it was left off the original in favour of 'Dig It' and 'Maggie Mae'. I know Paul loathed the souped-up version of 'The Long And Winding Road', but while Lennon's (deliberate?) bass mistakes and Disneyesque choirs are dispensable, a muted string arrangement would have been a nice touch. 'Across The Universe' is much better stripped down though.
