Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 69.6/100, a mean average of 67.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 68.9/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 20.8.

Kings of Leon are an American alternative rock band formed in 1999 in Nashville, Tennessee. The group consists of brothers Caleb (vocals/guitar), Nathan (drums), and Jared Followill (bass), along with their cousin Matthew Followill (lead guitar). They named the band after their grandfather, Leon.
Kings of Leon’s sound has shifted significantly over the years, but it is generally categorized as Alternative Rock with deep Southern Rock roots.
Here is how their genre has evolved:
Early Era (The "Gritty" Phase): On their first two albums, they were often called the "Southern Strokes." Their style was a raw, high-energy blend of Garage Rock Revival, Blues Rock, and Southern Rock. It was defined by Caleb's raspy vocals and "shaggy" guitar riffs.
Mainstream Era (The "Arena Rock" Phase): With the release of Only by the Night, they transitioned into Arena Rock and Indie Rock. The production became cleaner, the choruses got bigger, and the sound became more melodic and expansive, designed to fill stadiums.
Recent Era (The "Experimental" Phase): Their latest work, including Can We Please Have Fun (2024), leans more into Post-Punk and New Wave influences. It’s a bit more atmospheric and quirky, moving away from the polished "radio hits" of the 2010s.
Так себе группа, можно было поинтереснее переосмыслить старую рэтро рок музыку, а не скатываться в попсу аля Имаджин Драгонс
Earlier albums are quite decent, but Only By the Night is very irritating and was hugely overplayed at the time.
And I'm sorry but I just can't decipher the lyrics.
Those first two albums are so awesome - not one track on there that I don't love. The 3rd one is still very good; a bit heavier. But by the 4th one they came upon a formula, and they have not strayed from it for the last 4 albums. Four whole albums all with the same song over and over! On top of this: they are by far the most boring band live. And I really hate to say all this, because when they first appeared they were the baddest sounding, baddest looking band in many years. The singer, the short tight rockers, the clever lyrics - all tops.
I hate this band with a burning passion. In my carpool in high school we would listen to the radio and Sex On Fire and Use Somebody would get played all the time. Both of those songs are infuriatingly annoying. I always hated this band, even back then. His fucking whimpering Eddie Vedder voice and those fucking choruses, rrgh! It puts such rage in me whenever I hear this fucking band in stores and shit.
First two albums are nice, third is ok and fourth has several good songs, most of which are still overhyped cause Use Somebody is really not THAT fantastic. A nice indie band, some pretty great songs but nothing that special. Seeing them live in June though, so I may change opinion
Great band for the most part. Because Of The Times and, Youth And Young Man Hood are my two favourites as I love every song. Aha Shake Heartbreak is also great. Only By The Night does have some great songs. However overplayed Sex On Fire was, it's still a great song.
The past two albums are listenable but nothing stands out and sticks in my mind like the other albums.
Aha Shake Heartbreak, Youth and Young Manhood and Because of the Times. In that order. Don't bother with the "made for radio" crap albums recently made. (Only by the Night, Mechanical Bull)
But those first three, man, they are a damn good listen.
For now, the living definition of average.
Average. That's all I can say.
