Sometimes, I wonder if it even makes sense anymore to look for electronic albums after listening to this. How can anyone compete with this? It's so above anything else released this year that it almost becomes silly. Yeah, this record is silly, Prince of Denmark is silly, Giegling is silly, what else can I say?

If anyone had told me at the beginning of the year that my favorite Hip Hop album will be from a white girl from South London I would probably shake my head in disbelief. Here we are though, 12 months later and this sits comfortably over the critics darlings Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar and Tribe. Although calling it simply Hip hop doesn't sit well with me as it differs from any contemporary artist both musically and vocally. Kate Tempest's doesn't "rap" as much as she just narrates her stories that paint a vivid picture of contemporary life over cold electronic beats.

Omar-S has always been on of my favorites since I listened to his fabric mix a few years ago and since then, I always felt excitement every time he would release a new collection of songs.
On the aptly named "The Best", Omar-S shows his strongest offering so far and while he doesn't stay to far away from what he's known for years, it just works incredibly well put together. [First added to this chart: 12/30/2016]

I admit, I was never a fan of Bowie. While his most acclaimed albums were all a pleasant listen, none of them managed to grab my attention long enough. Blackstar, on the other hand marks a departure from Bowie's previous works as it incorporates experimental rock with elements of jazz and electronic to create an eclectic piece that demands your attention from the first notes till the end. A incredible swan song from one of the most iconic figures in popular music.

Of course in general not as impressive as both Good Kid and To Pimp a Butterfly, being a collection of tracks that didn't make into his previous full length release and all, yet I can't help but be amazed at how incredible untitled #2 is. It's up there with my all time favorite Kendrick songs. Good stuff!

Wow, great list, been bumping that Prince of Denmark album a lot recently, also a lot of albums Ive had my eye on so this should be a great place for recs

pod album is 3 hours of perfection. how can one person release all that they did this year. blessed to be alive to witness it all. equinknox album too is great. also if you haven't heard it already sw album on sued is incredible, think it would be right up your street
