Keeping it at 50 albums for the year to keep the quality of the selection high!
The lack of very exciting electronic releases this year forced me to look outside my usual comfort zone and to broaden my horizons a bit giving other genres more chances than I would usually do. As a result I found myself listening to a lot more non-british/american instrumental albums, especially those featuring traditional instruments.
Besides this, Hip Hop is having one of their strongest and most varied year this decade as well, with Danzel Curry, Avantdale Bowling Club, Phonte and the Jean Grae/Quelle Chris project all having secure places in the upper half of the chart.
The amount of exciting Jazz record also made me very happy and hopeful for the genre in the future.
