9.5/10
One of my favourite albums of all time, and in my opinion his masterpiece. Manages to synthesise Steve Reich and the impressionism of Erik Satie. "Live Room" has the kind of physicality you'd usually see in a power electronics records.

Pitchfork placed this at No. 6 on their best ambient albums of all time. It's definitely the synthesis of the more traditional ambient sound. Defined by the twin pieces "Whitecaps of White Noise" which take up over a quarter of the entire record.

It was incredibly hard picking between this and the album above. "No Drums" is a soul-wrenching piece of ambient on par with Eno's "A Ending" or Aphex Twin's "Lichen".

Strangely longer in length than all the above albums.

7/10
Highly underrated in Tim's discography. Great example of a late career evolution of an artist, synthesising outside influences whilst also building upon an established sound.

If Konoyo is the most underrated Tim Hecker record, Love Streams is definitely the most overhated. Definitely a lot better than people give it credit for, I think it's just unflatteringly compared to two of Tim's best albums that preceded it (and Konoyo being a stronger record right after). The album feels perhaps like a retread of ideas on Virgins, just executed with less daring (this could easily have been marketed as the Anoyo to Virgins' Konoyo). But it still has ideas that separate it from your average ambient artist. It perhaps suffers from having few standout moments. I really appreciate the inclusion of live voices on the album. Feel like this album does No Highs better than No Highs.

So many of Tim's hallmarks were here. I just think it's also one of Tim's messiest records.

A very good ambient record, especially the final track. For a lesser artist it might be considered a career high. For Tim it doesn't even come close to making the top half.

A disappointing record for sure, and like the record below it it's most guilty of having fewer ideas than his other projects. There's also v few standout moments, it's probably more consistent than several of the albums above it. it just also makes little case for return listens.

Pains me to say this since it's his latest record, but this is probably my least favourite Tim Hecker album. It's not bad by any means, it's just pretty unremarkable; an unforgivable sin for such an otherwise remarkable artist. Lengthier pieces fail to distinguish themselves from each other; the collaborations with Colin Stetson feel wasted.
