The mother of all compilations. Glorious collection of late 20s/early 30s folk music, including famed Carter Family, Blind Willie Johnson, etc; but also the amazing, not so famous, Buell Kazee.

Two Tone was the British ska revival label back in the late 70s. The Specials, Madness, The Beat, The Selecter... they're all there.

The title says it all. Mango Records have designed a 4 CD-box set all arranged in chronological order, from the late 50s to dancehall ; from The Folkes Brothers' "Oh Carolina" to Shaggy's cover. Essential.

I could have charted any item in the Ethiopiques series focusing on ethio-jazz, they're all beautiful. This particular volume focuses on "Tezeta", the local form of spleen.

Otis Redding, Sam Dave, Rufus & Carla, Booker T., etc. Glorious compilation from the best sounding southern soul label. Stax IS soul. A better yet selection would be "The Complete Stax/Volt singles", 9 CDs of pure bliss.

Great idea. and those first 2 are like holy grails. I especially loved seeing that Anticon sampler here. Although the American Folk Anthology basically covers a lot of the same ground, I gotta suggest Revenant Records "American Primitive" collections.

All I can say is Wow!!! I don't include compilations in my overall / decade / year charts & was thinking of putting together a compilation chart myself. Could I beat yours? Doubtful. This is brill & so much new to discover.
