This was recommended (or talked in positive light) by a guy (later I found out he is kind of a fundie) who claims (as a man who has heard, like 1k worship albums) that this is the greatest one. So I heard it myself. Charity has a fine voice and the production, sound-wise, is really good. However, like most worship music, I can get tired by the lack of originality or poetry in the lyrics praising Jesus Christ. God gave us a unique brain to create something special, and this album doesn't really feel special, as much as derivative. Not to mention the first song, that tries to be upbeat, and the gospel choir as well as Charity comes off laughable and forced with the staccato rhythm. Also, I can hear that it's technically a live album, so the audience at the end (and sometimes in the middle) cheering makes it more an Earthly experience rather than a spiritual personal experience.
The best songs are the ones with the strongest melodies, and where the gospel are aware enough to carry as a backbone to Charity's lead vocals. There is one song on the record I would consider a CCM masterpiece, which is Holy Ground, because it feels holy in spirit, and it's so smoothly ethereal that the listener gets lifted off the ground. Other highlights include Thank You Jesus For The Blood, the title track and the cute little interlude I Worship You Almighty God. [First added to this chart: 05/26/2025]
